Practical preparation

Before your planned surgery it is a good idea to prepare ahead of time. Please try and limit to hand luggage size only and do not bring valuables or larger amounts of money.

Below is a checklist of items that we advise you to bring:

  • Your admission letters.
  • If possible, bring an up-to-date list of all your medicines and how you take them, including an up-to-date list of all your medicines and how you take them.
  • Mobile phone and charger (headphones can be helpful).
  • Toiletries – DO NOT bring aerosol type deodorants as these set off our fire alarm system which leads to attendance by the Fire Service.
  • Nightdress, pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers.
  • Comfortable day clothes for wearing after your operation and supportive shoes.
  • Your glasses if you need them and their case.
  • Something to read or other items to help occupy yourself during your stay.
  • If you have dentures (false teeth) please bring a container with your name on it to store them in.
  • Hearing aid, the case and spare batteries.
  • Details of any hospital or clinic appointments happening during your stay.
  • A small amount of money as there a couple of retail outlets on site.
