Faith and Spirituality

The Staff Equalities Network recognises that for many, faith and spirituality is an important aspect of a person’s identity.  By meeting the religious and spiritual needs of our workforce, it is more likely that people will feel empowered and happy to bring their ‘whole-selves’ to work each day.

The incredibly diverse workforce that makes up the tapestry of NHS Grampian, is all the richer for the culture, traditions and beliefs that are important to our staff.

The Staff Equalities Network would like to create opportunities to celebrate the diversity of our workforce, and learn about dates in the calendar that are important to people from the different faith and religions backgrounds.

If you are interested to help us to progress work around faith and spirituality, the Staff Equalities Network would love to hear from you.  Please drop us an email at gram.staffequalities@nhs.scot

Staff Survey #SpacesForInclusion – Faith and Spirituality

The Staff Equalities Network would like to find out about colleagues' experiences of being able to observe the dates in their religions and spiritual calendar that are important to them, and identify ways that the organisation can better meet the religious and spiritual needs of our diverse workforce.

To help health and care services improve the experience for all our staff, we have created a short survey. The Staff Equalities Network is interested to hear from a diverse range of colleagues, and the information shared will be hugely important in enabling the Network to improve the experience for all.

Any information you provide us with will be anonymous.

You can access the survey here: #SpacesForInclusion - Faith and Spirituality Survey

If you are interested to find out more about the diverse range of religions that are currently practiced in Grampian, you will almost certainly be interested to read this fantastic booklet produced by the NHS Grampian Spiritual Care Committee, Religions and Cultures a practical guide to the diversity of beliefs customs and cultures of the people of Grampian.

This booklet is a valuable aid to NHS Grampian staff, it is also widely in use in many other public bodies in Grampian.

Healthcare Chaplaincy Support for staff, patients and relatives

Did you know that Healthcare Chaplains are available to provide support to staff during these ongoing challenging and for many, exhausting days.

Healthcare Chaplains are available to meet with staff 1-2-1, face to face or on the telephone or via Teams.

Healthcare Chaplains also provide 24/7 on call cover for support for patients, families, carers and relatives in matters that cannot wait until the next working day.

To contact one of the chaplains, you can call the chaplaincy office on 01224 553316.  If you would like advice or support out with normal working hours (08.30 -16.30, Monday to Friday) please call the main switchboard and ask for the On Call chaplain to be paged.

The main hospital sites all have a chapel or sanctuary which all staff are welcome to visit, to be still and to take time out and recharge.

If you do need support, please do get in touch. Likewise, if you feel someone you know needs support, then encourage them to get in touch also.

Healthcare Chaplains are here for you.
